In November, Argon & Co held a sustainability roundtable discussion with its Strategy & Transformation community, Connect. It was an evening of sharing stories and thought-provoking insight between representatives from various multinational FMCG and manufacturing organisations, private equity, and start ups, with experiences spanning the FMCG, food and beverage, and energy sectors amongst others.
Our guest speakers, Philippa Desiderio from THG/ECO and Laure Cucuron from Hubcycle, covered topics including:
- The challenges large organisations face in understanding, reporting, and ultimately improving their sustainability performance
- The complexity in carbon accounting and the (costly) mistakes it can lead to
- The need for innovative thinking, with experiences from the economy of waste and bringing circularity principles to life by using sustainability thinking to unlock new value, and the need for increase transparency, sharing, and collaboration.
The overwhelming message is that the time to act is now – not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good – and seeking new opportunities to collaborate with value chain partners.
