  • It’s no secret grocery stores are thinking about how they are going to improve their systems and our clients and prospects are no different. In this piece, Bernard Goor says, “The apparel and footwear, electronics, appliances, and recreational goods segments have already experienced major disruptions due to two key factors: (1) the emergence of e-commerce, boosted by the success of Amazon, and (2) the expectations of hyper-connected consumers who want nothing less than seamless, personalized, and consistent experiences across their omni-channel touchpoints.” In the article, it explains that grocers will have to move quickly to digitize their stores and change their customer’s experiences positively (To be honest, a lot of people compare their experiences with companies to Amazon). This will not be an inexpensive prospect!
  • A Best Practice Guide for Bulk Carriers is under development. The proposed International Safety Guide for Bulk Carriers and Terminals (ISGBCT) will provide “best practice guidance to ship and terminal personnel on the safe carriage and handling of cargoes on bulk carriers and in terminals, just as the International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals (ISGOTT) does for liquid cargoes.” People are hopeful, even though there are guidelines out there, that lives will be saved with updated best practices.
  • Since 2008 when the most current recession hit many industries and economies have rebounded or are still rebounding. Trucking Freight Growth Up 38% with the exception of rail. While overall there is growth, that growth hasn’t been steadily climbing.
  • What are the trends in 2017? Top Trends to Watch in Retail is saying… technology and of course, customer service (which right now includes a lot of technology). Niche industries with younger crowds are growing and specialty stores and eCommerce is going to grow at a very fast pace.
