Last week our Connect community hosted a webinar delving into the impact of AI on business operations and the benefits and challenges of AI integration.

We would like to thank our Connect community members who attended the webinar, especially our guest speakers Jessica Vidal, Digital Supply Chain Director at MSD, and Kirsty Morgan, Customer Supply Chain Manager at Whyte & Mackay. Jessica and Kirsty shared real-world examples of how AI is transforming their businesses by analysing unstructured information and providing valuable insights. The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where attendees could ask specific questions to the experts and learn more about the topic. Highlights of the discussion include:

  • Process Automation: The webinar highlighted the potential of AI in automating processes that were previously not automatable due to their complexity and need for human decision-making. This includes handling unstructured information and frequent tasks, which can now be managed more efficiently with AI
  • AI in Operations: There was a focus on the advantages of AI in operations functions, particularly in terms of improving efficiency and productivity. The speakers discussed how AI is transforming consulting practices, with empirical studies showing that consultants complete tasks faster and better when using AI
  • Challenges of AI Integration: The speakers addressed the challenges associated with replacing entire processes with AI, such as the nuances of AI decision-making, algorithmic bias, and accountability. They emphasized the importance of targeted, smaller-scale process improvements rather than attempting to replace entire processes with AI

These topics reflect the current state and future potential of AI in transforming business operations and the importance of addressing the challenges that come with its integration. If you would like to find out more about this topic please contact Bryan Johnson, our Head of Data and AI.
