Earlier this month, Argon & Co UK held its annual volunteering day, supporting local communities and driving positive change. Our teams spent the day volunteering at four locations across the UK, working alongside charities, FareShare, and HandsOn London.

HandsOn London

HandsOn London aim to promote volunteering and community service as a central aspect of life in London. By making volunteering accessible for everyone, HandsOn partners include homeless, outdoor, and mental health charities.

We supported HandsOn London at two of their London locations, Dulwich Park in South London, and Wormwood Scrubs in West London.

The team at Dulwich Park were involved in Brighten Up project, which included various landscaping efforts, maintaining local green space and supporting with general park maintenance. The project was created to make green spaces as fun, safe and green as possible, ensuring they remain accessible year-round, and rich in biodiversity.

Meanwhile, at Wormwood Scrubs, our volunteers were at work maintaining a space used by local schools and community groups for learning outside of the classroom.

FareShare

FareShare are an organisation committed to fighting hunger and food waste by redistributing surplus food to nearly 8000 frontline charities and community groups.

FareShare collect good food that would otherwise go to waste and distribute it to communities and charities who need support. Their work also makes a big impact in tackling the 4 million tonnes of surplus food that goes to waste in the UK food industry every year.

Our UK teams volunteered at two locations in London and Birmingham, supporting in FareShare’s warehouses with food delivery preparation.

In the kitchen, our London and Birmingham teams were prepping, portioning, and packaging meals, while others assisted with loading food into FareShare vans for distribution.

We would like to thank FareShare and HandsOn London, for showing us first hand the positive impact their charities are making in local communities.
