I. Freight brokerage England Logistics has opened a new office in Atlanta, Ga., to accommodate the company’s growth in the region. Scott Hammond, business development manager, shared, “The opening of our regional office in Atlanta was driven by our commitment to provide top-tier service to clients in the area and demonstrates our desire to foster regional growth in coming years.”
II. Ports America, the largest U.S. stevedore and terminal operating company and the current operator of Florida’s Port Tampa Bay Container Terminal, has signed an amended container agreement that will be valid through May 2046. Ports America currently operates in more than 42 ports and 80 locations. The company handles all types of cargo, including container, bulk, breakbulk, automotive, project, military and cruise.
III. DHL has expanded its operations in Chicago with the opening of a new service center.
The $1.3 million investment was primarily driven by heavy demand and international shipment growth from local businesses trading internationally, e-commerce shipping, and major customers based in Illinois.
IV. Company to watch: FR8. The tools the company makes are focused on helping carriers manage their fleet schedules, identify available capacity on freight truck routes, and sell this capacity to shippers that need it. The platform allows shippers to manage and track their spot loads in real time, and the FR8 mobile app provides truck drivers with tools to manage their life on the road.
