Chick-Fil-A Expanding with its First Distribution Center

The company has purchased 50 acres in northwest Cobb County (home of the Atlanta Braves SunTrust Park) plans to use the facility to serve up to 300 restaurants. The AJC reported that the new DC will allow it to “continue to innovate its supply chain practices.” There are plans to have the center completed in the summer of 2020.

Walmart Announces High-Tech Consolidation Center

The world’s largest retailer announced a 340,000-square-foot center in Colton, California. They will use automated technology to work to increased volume and always sought after faster delivery times. It will open in mid-2019 and should employ 150 full-time employees before working toward expanding to 600 by 2021. Digital Chain Digital reported the “consolidation center is the key to the company’s supply chain.”
