Did you shop Amazon’s Prime Day and add to the stories that broke on Monday? I did. Luckily, the system was a little slow for me and I didn’t shop as much as I probably would have, had the system been full steam. It’s almost the end of July and here in the South we are getting ready for Back-to-School for our kids, so Prime Day might have been helpful for some people.

  • Amazon Prime Day. Monday was one of the biggest shopping days of the year (like Black Friday) is Amazon’s Prime Day and began in the afternoon. There were a few hitches (slow website, shortage of drivers). Even though the website was down in short spurts on Monday because of overload, Supply Chain 24/7 reported sales were still good, “… the popularity of the event coupled with the capacity crisis and driver shortage is causing roadblocks for some retailers who haven’t already optimized their supply chains.” It’s thought of as “Christmas in July.” Speaking of Amazon, while getting news for today’s recap, we noticed a new warehouse policy from Amazon, which penalizes sellers for long storage times.
  • Top Supply Chains of 2018. We always like to check out these lists because we like to look for our clients and prospects. Industry Week has an article and slide show of the Top 25 Supply Chains by Gartner, Inc. The order/rankings scoring is based on opinions of Gartner’s analysts along with other metrics like assets, inventory growth and revenue growth and corporate social responsibility (CSR) component score.
  • Outsourcing. We’re working on some posts and papers for several topics (outsourcing being one of them). As we were researching what topics to expand or to cover, we realized we still have a lot of current content (that we are also looking to update soon) we can share. Here is link to our Supply Chain & Logistics Recap White Paper section. Scroll down to see some topics by title.
