So the weather keeps impacting some. For us, we are back to normal but in areas that took a direct hit, they are still in major recovery mode.

  • Logistics issues in Puerto Rico reported were reported yesterday. It’s no surprise there are issues with roughly 90% or 3.4 million people since hurricane Maria. The distribution problems are causing fuel shortages, making things more difficult as well. The debate of shipping charges has entered the discussions.
  • Mercedes-Benz is building a new Global Logistics Center and North American hub in Alabama, five miles from their plant nearby. They are also consolidating three current after-sales warehouses at a new location. The new after-sales North American hub will be co-located with the new Global Logistics Center providing. This allows the company to meet rising market demands amid the growing variety of models. The new hub is scheduled to start its operations at the end of 2020.
  • Research shows that women in logistics is good for all companies. Logistics Management reports many studies have shown that gender diversity in the workplace is good for collaboration, understanding, and tolerance, but also boosts competitiveness, productivity, and corporate social responsibility.”
