This is our normal Supply Chain and Logistics Recap but it’s all about eCommerce this week, apparently. There are items being ordered daily within our company and shipped directly to our homes (okay, my home) or picked and pulled for us to pick up at brick and mortar stores. We’re living eCommerce<\/a> in our personal lives and our professional lives right now.<\/p>\n

I.<\/strong> The last two weeks we’ve provided updates on our recent conference and our partner Steve Mulaik’s popular presentation he made with others on eCommerce<\/a>. During the presentation Steve and the others offered deeper information in the beginnings of a white paper to go into more detail at the Operations Summit <\/a>due to the demand of all of the session attendees.<\/p>\n

II.<\/strong> Speaking of eCommerce… announced yesterday, PetSmart is acquiring Chewy.com <\/a>at a cost of $3.35 billion in the largest acquisition to date for eCommerce. While the price is in question, one thing that isn’t is the fact that the stores we used to visit only by way of automobile\u00a0to in order to\u00a0shop at are serious about getting an eCommerce presence, and PetSmart <\/a>is proof.<\/p>\n

III.<\/strong> These are changing times in retail, aren’t they? Our clients are continually assessing their working\u00a0eCommerce situations and more importantly, their goals. We’re also staying informed about what channels clients (and prospects!) are using and how our supply chain and logistics experience can help. This article published today mentions the\u00a0use of private messaging is an unexpected trend that is on the rise. IV.<\/strong>\u00a0Since we’re on a roll today with news and information about eCommerce, it’s perfect we wrap up today’s list with a story about 3 Ways Retailers Blend eCommerce with Retail.<\/a>\u00a0It’s not a long article but backs up what we’ve reported on what they are suggesting with loyalty programs, use of social media platforms and blending retail and eCommerce to give customers options.<\/p>\n
