{"id":12025,"date":"2017-03-31T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.argonandco.com\/news-insights\/articles\/supply-chain-logistics-recap-26-sandy-springs-atlanta-ga\/"},"modified":"2020-12-17T17:35:41","modified_gmt":"2020-12-17T17:35:41","slug":"supply-chain-logistics-recap-26-sandy-springs-atlanta-ga","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.argonandco.com\/us\/news-insights\/articles\/supply-chain-logistics-recap-26-sandy-springs-atlanta-ga\/","title":{"rendered":"Supply chain and logistics recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was a busy week for us, because of work, but also because some of our team members attended and spoke at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationssummit.com\">Operations Summit<\/a>\u00a0(or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/opssummit\">#OpsSummit on Twitter.)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>I.<\/strong>\u00a0Just last night a traffic disaster happened in our city of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/local\/atlanta\/large-fire-shuts-down-interstate\/507589453\">Atlanta when a fire under a highway bridge<\/a>\u00a0caused\u00a0the collapsing of a small section of one of the major interstates &#8211; I-85, which goes north to south through the city. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dot.ga.gov\">GA DOT worked on plans overnight<\/a> to address how traffic will flow &#8211; both city traffic and traffic that users our outer interstate system. Transport obviously touches our business, and we know there will be concern for many of our clients today and in the weeks ahead. Partner Paul Huppertz said, &#8220;The diverted traffic is likely to cause more traffic onto I-285, so transit times will suffer even for truckers trying to bypass.&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GADeptofTrans\/status\/847671438303571968\/photo\/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&amp;ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.11alive.com%2Fnews%2Fthese-roads-will-be-closed-due-to-i-85-collapse%2F427083004\">Updated to add DOT map<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>II.<\/strong>\u00a0Remember when we talked about partner <a href=\"http:\/\/crimsonandco.info\/expertise\/why-does-training-matter-in-a-warehouse\/\">Steve Mulaik&#8217;s informal test on people and performance<\/a>? It promises to cover\u00a0advanced analytics on employee performance and best practices,\u00a0make decisions that drive savings and understand how long-term success can be achieved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>III.<\/strong>\u00a0We&#8217;ve been interested in Amazon&#8217;s brick and mortar store goals for while, along with their cashierless store plan, but it seems there are\u00a0delays, and their location in Seattle, WA will not be opened as scheduled the end of this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/amazon-delays-convenience-store-opening-to-work-out-kinks-1490616133?mod=djemlogistics\">as reported by WSJ,\u00a0&#8220;Amazon Go testing started at a <\/a>mock-up store in a warehouse in the SoDo neighborhood in Seattle before the first store\u2019s beta opening on the ground floor of an Amazon building. Employees served as the guinea pigs for the technology, which relies on video streaming and computer vision algorithms to process images in real-time, along with sensors, identifying customers and tracking them\u2014and the items they grab\u2014throughout the store.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To test the concept, Amazon put a beta location in their office and it served Amazon employees.
