So we all survived the weather, right?<\/a> Some of us luckier than others. Like here in Atlanta, we were just covering plants and there\u00a0were no salt trucks out on the streets. We see there were many roads shut down in the Northeast but it looks like it wasn’t as bad as predicted.<\/p>\n

I.<\/b>\u00a0Kroger is building a massive $60 million distribution (replenishing center) center in Ohio, as reported by Cincinnati Business Courier<\/a>\u00a0\u201cMore than 8.5 million customers shop in our stores every day and our goal is to always have our shelves stocked with the variety and selection our shoppers want,\u201d said\u00a0Frank Bruni<\/a>, Kroger\u2019s VP\u00a0of supply chain and logistics. \u201cThe new facility will help our logistics team to improve lead times and drive efficiencies for our stores and ultimately our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

II.<\/strong>\u00a0The Philadelphia Inquirer Daily News <\/a>reports\u00a0The Port of Philadelphia <\/a>is set to land bigger ships and more cargo in their port and creating a\u00a0boost to their economy with a $300 million investment from the Wolf administration to expand.\u00a0The state of Pennsylvania is landlord and owner of 16 piers and terminals on the Delaware River.<\/p>\n

By fixing ship berths, purchasing\u00a0new cranes, updating and relocating warehouses, and the extra\u00a0cargo-handling space is expected to create 2,000 waterfront jobs, and nearly 7,000 total jobs for truckers, rail workers, suppliers, and port-related businesses.\u00a0Hopefully\u00a0the improvements will position Philadelphia to attract shippers that currently go to rival ports in New York and Baltimore.<\/p>\n
