Through detailed spend analysis, the introduction of category-specific SME groups, streamlined procurement tools, and strong stakeholder engagement, the project drove $8.3 million in annual savings across 26 strategic sourcing initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Crucially, Project STEP also strengthened procurement governance, reduced off-contract spend, and embedded sustainability and Indigenous supplier engagement into procurement processes\u2014ensuring alignment with UQ\u2019s broader ESG objectives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project is a powerful example of what\u2019s possible when procurement is elevated to a strategic function,\u201d said Daniel Williams \u00a0Procurement Partner at Argon &amp; Co. \u201cFrom enhancing supplier relationships to delivering measurable savings and long-term impact, Project STEP showcases the role consultancies can play in helping organisations deliver sustainable value.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key achievements include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$8.3 million in annual savings<\/strong> realised across two waves of implementation (2023\u20132024)<\/li>\n<li>Increased\u00a0<strong>supplier compliance and visibility<\/strong> across decentralised faculties and units<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of\u00a0<strong>category management frameworks<\/strong> and performance tracking systems<\/li>\n<li>Prioritisation of\u00a0<strong>sustainable and Indigenous suppliers<\/strong> in key categories<\/li>\n<li>Strong endorsement from UQ\u2019s Vice-Chancellor, CFO, and business units<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This recognition from CIPS highlights not only the success of the project but also Argon &amp; Co\u2019s commitment to embedding lasting change for clients.
