The 8th Celerity Supply Chain Tribe Conference & Awards took place in Mumbai on 20 August 2026, bringing together supply chain and business leaders around the theme \u201cThe Big Shift: Redefining Leadership in a High-Stakes World.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Argon & Co was proud to sponsor the event and contribute to the conversation through Panel \u201cSupply Chains in a Fragmented World: Navigating Geopolitics, Trade & Risk.\u201d<\/strong> Our team also took part in the event\u2019s rapid-fire session, sharing perspectives on transformation, AI, execution and the future of supply chain leadership.<\/p>\n

Across the sessions and conversations throughout the day, one message came through clearly: leaders are being asked to make better decisions, faster, often without perfect information.<\/p>\n

Here are the five themes that stood out.<\/em><\/h3>\n

1. Transformation succeeds or fails through execution<\/h3>\n

Strategy and technology are important, but transformation ultimately comes down to the decisions and behaviours embedded in everyday operations.<\/p>\n

As Deepak Jain, Associate Partner and Head of India CoE, shared during the rapid-fire session: \u201cTransformation doesn\u2019t fail in the PowerPoint. It fails on Monday morning on the shop floor.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The organisations that create lasting impact are those that translate ambition into clear ownership, practical ways of working and consistent execution across the business.<\/p>\n

This also requires focus. Most organisations do not have a shortage of ideas; they have too many initiatives competing for the same people, resources and leadership attention. Doing fewer things well is often more valuable than launching multiple programmes that struggle to reach implementation.<\/p>\n

2. AI should help people make better decisions, faster<\/h3>\n

AI investment is accelerating, but the opportunity is not simply about reducing headcount or adding another technology solution.<\/p>\n

The more useful question is: which decisions need to improve, and how can AI help people make them faster and with greater confidence?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This means starting with decision clarity, strong data foundations and clear ownership. Without these fundamentals, AI risks automating existing complexity rather than creating meaningful value.<\/p>\n

The real opportunity is to combine human judgement with technology to improve the speed and quality of decision-making.<\/p>\n

3. Start with the problem, not the technology<\/h3>\n

Technology should be an enabler of better business outcomes, not the starting point for transformation.<\/p>\n

Before selecting a platform, automation solution or AI use case, organisations need to be clear about the problem they are trying to solve. Is the objective to improve service, increase throughput, reduce waste, strengthen resilience or make better use of existing capacity?<\/p>\n

Taking a little more time up front to define the problem can prevent years of unnecessary costs, complexity, and poor process design.<\/p>\n

4. Resilience and service matter alongside cost<\/h3>\n

Cost remains an important supply chain priority, but cost reduction alone does not define a high-performing operation.<\/p>\n

A supply chain can appear efficient on a spreadsheet while still creating poor customer experiences through missed deliveries, stock-outs, long lead times or unreliable service.<\/p>\n

The strongest supply chain strategies balance cost with service, efficiency with flexibility, resilience with commercial performance, and standardisation with customer responsiveness.<\/p>\n

The objective is not simply to build the lowest-cost supply chain. It is to build one that can continue to perform when conditions change.<\/p>\n

5. India can play a bigger role in global supply chains<\/h3>\n

India already has strong technology, analytics and engineering capabilities. The next opportunity is to combine these strengths with deeper supply chain expertise, operational experience and commercial thinking.<\/p>\n

This creates the potential to move from: \u201cThe world decides, and India supports\u201d<\/strong> to: \u201cIndia helps solve, design and deliver globally.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

This shift will require organisations to continue building capability, investing in talent and connecting technology with real operational challenges.<\/p>\n
